The San Mateo County Transit District and the San Mateo County Office of Education are sponsoring Art Takes a Bus Ride, an art competition for San Mateo County students in grades 1-6. Additional details are included below:
Theme: The Future of SamTrans
Draw what you think SamTrans will look like in the future! Make sure to feature a SamTrans bus in your drawing. Be creative and have fun!
Participation: Student work will be judged against others in the same grade division. The grade divisions are 1-2, 3-4, 5-6. Note: For fairness, artwork must be created by students only.
Size of Art Work: Artwork is to be created in a horizontal orientation, on white paper 9 inches high x 12 inches wide.
Media: Media can be tempera and/or acrylic paint, crayon, felt pen, colored pencil, pastel, watercolor, collage (paper and/or cloth) and mixed media. The use of bold, rich color is encouraged. To view the artwork of previous winners, visit www.samtrans.com/artbus.
Release Form: All artwork must be accompanied by the Release Form, which can be found here. Please have the form signed by a parent or guardian for all students participating in the competition (make as many copies as you need). Delivery of Artwork: All entries must be delivered FLAT (not rolled or folded) to Buena Dandan at the San Mateo County Office of Education, 101 Twin Dolphin Drive, Redwood City, CA 94065, by February 27, 2015. (Office hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.)
Judging: All entries are judged on creativity, artistic merit and interpretation of the theme. All decisions are final. Winners will be notified by mail.
Recognition: Two winners will be selected from each grade division (a total of six winners). The winning entries will be displayed by SamTrans and the winners will be recognized at the May 2015 SamTrans Board of Directors meeting.
