County Board of Education Trustee Areas to be Redrawn
The San Mateo County Committee on School District Organization will conduct a series of public hearings to collect community input as the committee considers options for redrawing the seven trustee areas of the County Board of Education.
Under direction of the State Board of Education, each local County Committee on School District Organization is primarily responsible for the reorganization of school district boundaries within its county. Another of the committee’s functions is to review the boundaries of the County Board of Education trustee areas in relation to the latest U.S. Census data to ensure each trustee area represents the most equal numbers of residents as practical.
The County Committee on School District Organization will hold three separate public hearings on the matter. The specific details are listed below:
- Monday, December 8, 2014, at 7:00 PM at the San Mateo County Office of Education, 101 Twin Dolphin Drive, Redwood City, 92065, in the Corte Madera Room
- Monday, January 12, 2015, at 7:00 PM at the Jefferson Union High School District, 699 Serramonte Blvd., Daly City, 94015, in the Galleria Room
- Monday, February 2, 2015, at 7:00 PM at the Cunha Intermediate School, 600 Church Street, Half Moon Bay, 94019, in the library
The San Mateo County Office of Education has also established a web page to assist the public in learning more about the process and to submit public comments electronically. This information page is available on the San Mateo County Office of Education website at the following link: www.smcoe.org/trusteeareas.
Adjustments to the trustee area boundaries are solely for the election of members to the San Mateo County Board of Education. The change will not impact the boundaries of any school district in San Mateo County.
