San Mateo County Schools Open Today
REDWOOD CITY, CA – This morning, schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District were closed due to a credible bomb threat specific to their area.
The San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services conducted a mid-morning conference call with local law enforcement and school district leaders and confirmed that there is no credible threat to San Mateo County schools. As a precaution, local police departments have been conducting high-visibility patrols at public and private school campuses, and all San Mateo County schools remain open and in session.
Ensuring the safety of our students and staff is SMCOE's highest priority, and we are working with schools and districts to review our emergency protocols, known as The Big Five. These are the five immediate action responses that schools can put in place during an emergency. To learn more about The Big Five, please visit our website at www.smcoe.org/bigfive.
