Operation Recognition

At a Glance

Through Operation Recognition, the San Mateo County Office of Education awards diplomas to San Mateo County veterans whose high school educations were interrupted due to wartime circumstances.

To Apply

You may be eligible to apply if you

  • Served in the U.S. Armed Forces in World War II, the Korean War, or the Vietnam War with honorable discharge or were interned in a Japanese-American relocation camp during World War II
  • Are a resident of San Mateo County

If you have a qualifying family member who is now deceased, a person representing the family may apply for posthumous recognition.

There is no charge to participate in Operation Recognition. The recognition ceremony will be held in November (date to be determined) at the San Mateo Office of Education, 101 Twin Dolphin Drive, Redwood City. In order to be recognized at the 2017 ceremony, completed application forms and supporting documentation must be received by September 29, 2017.
