The Williams case was settled in 2004 in the California Superior Court. The intent of the ruling is to ensure all students have equal access to instructional materials, safe schools, and quality teachers.
County Superintendents are required to review decile 1-3 schools. The recent three-year cohort of decile 1-3 (statewide rank) schools was identified when CDE released the Base API in the Spring of 2013. The schools in this cohort will be visited for 3 consecutive years. The visits must be made within the first 20 days of school. The following components are reviewed at each school:
- Textbooks and Instructional Materials
- Teacher Assignments
- School Accountability Report Card (SARC)
- Uniform Complaint Procedures (UCP)
