Education Specialists: Support Providers

SUPPORT PROVIDER SEMINAR SCHEDULE (MANDATORY ATTENDANCE)

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site support to each PT to assist them in building students teacher relationships and implementing Culturally and Linguistically Relevant Pedagogy.
  • Develop a trusting and reflective professional partnership with your PTs.
  • Assist each PT to develop professional goals based on the CSTPs and complete necessary induction portfolio requirements while encouraging PTs to participate in specific learning activities and/or Professional Development sessions that foster growth in these specific goal areas
  • Review Induction Standards, California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTPs) and the SMCTIP requirements with assigned PTs.
  • Monitor and assist your PTs with collecting evidence that documents their growth in the Induction Standards and the CSTPS 
  • Participate and attend all Support Provider Seminars and complete 6 hours of Professional Development to foster your own SP professional growth.  Attendance will be reported to each district’s Induction representative on a quarterly basis.
  • Model a lesson or lessons for the PT (including differentiated instruction) as appropriate.
  • Coach/train your PT in the triennial (e.g., assessment, report writing, timelines) and annual IEP process.
  • Coach/train your PT in the development of the IEP and schedule Veteran IEP observations that your PT can attend with skilled mentor Education Specialist teachers.
  • Support and facilitate your PTs’ Veteran Teacher Classroom Observations at least once per year.
  • Communicate with site and district administrators on a regular basis regarding the Induction Program and Participating Teachers’ need.
  • Communicate with the consortium administrator regarding program effectiveness, and the formative assessment system.
  • Participate in the program evaluation process and comply with consortium reporting procedures.
  • Facilitate your PTs’ participation in program evaluation processes.
  • Complete and submit evidence of mentoring practice.
  • If the PT leaves the program, notify the Program Administrator.
