At a Glance
The Safe Routes to Anywhere cycling instruction program is designed to support students in grades 5, 6, 7, and 8 to foster the development of safe destination riding skills. The course is founded on John Forester’s tenet, “Cyclists fare best when they act and are treated as drivers of vehicles.” Through participation in this program, participants are supported with developing the skills and habits of mind to be safe road cyclists. Safe road cycling in this program is based upon four tenets, which include be proactive, visible, and predictable ambassadors of safe cycling. Through active participation in this course, participants also develop an appreciation for healthy lifestyles, active transit, and most importantly, have fun!
