Early Childhood Education Preschool Program
The San Mateo County Office of Education (SMCOE) Early Childhood Education (ECE) Preschool Program provides a range of services designed to meet the needs of children with intensive special needs. The ECE program provides preschool special education services to eligible children to meet their educational needs under the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Part B and state regulations. Special education services focus on both the developmental needs of the child and readiness for school with parent's partnership in the process.
The SMCOE preschool programs emphasize integration of students with age-appropriate peers, placement in the least restrictive environment and programs to support transition. Leadership and support exists to insure the quality of their student's instructional programs as well as having facilities that are appropriate and maintained in a safe condition. In addition, the California Children's Service is located on site.
