The County Office of Education wrapped up its highly successful Getting You That Internship Workshop this month, with more than 80 high school students attending from across the county. The workshop taught students how to apply for an internship or job, create a strong cover letter and résumé, and successfully navigate a job or internship interview. Attendees learned about the top skills that employers look for and heard from hiring experts in multiple industries.

The students were joined by 55 industry partners from various companies, including Kaiser Permanente, SFO Fly, the Electrican’s Union, Accenture, and Box, who volunteered to conduct mock interviews of the students and were impressed by the students' skills and professionalism. The students, in turn, appreciated the opportunity to develop their job-seeking skills outside of the classroom. One student shared, “Overall, the workshop was extremely helpful and helped me develop skills that I know I’ll be able to utilize in the future! If you could spread the word about this to more schools and reach out to more students that would be great and beneficial to many more people. Thank you for this amazing opportunity!”

The workshop was developed by the County Office of Education's Career and Technical Education Department, which also coordinates a summer internship program for high school students to get hands-on experience while improving their career readiness.
