The San Mateo County Office of Education provides health, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits in addition to salary compensation.
County Office of Education employees may enroll in a variety of health and welfare benefit plans that will meet their personal and family needs. To be eligible, you must be employed in a permanent position, and eligibility for certain benefits requires that you work at least 50 percent.

Worker's Compensation
For any employee who sustained a work-related injury, below is the steps for filing a Worker's Compensation claim.
- Call Company Nurse to establish a case. Company Nurse customer service line: 1-877-518-6710 SMCOE company code: SMCS23
- Complete a Worker's Compensation claim packet. Employees are able to get the packet from school administrative personnel, or contact Jane Yang, Benefits Analyst of Human Resources who oversees the Worker's Compensation program. The Worker's Compensation packet includes the following forms:
- Please submit the Worker's Compensation packet to Jane Yang at jyang@smcoe.org. All the doctor work status reports for an injured worker need to be submitted to Jane Yang at Human Resources as well.
- Injured workers are required to create Sick/Self for the absence due to a work-related injury first, once the case and leave time are verified by Jane Yang, she will change it to Industrial Accident (IA) absence on Frontline (Aesop).

If you need to establish a 403b and/or a 457 account, please follow these steps:
- Navigate to the SMCOE Benefits page and scroll down to the TSA Retirement Savings Plans.
- Click List of Vendors to display the TSA (Tax-sheltered Annuity) plans and make your selection(s).
- Call the vendor(s) to create your account(s).
- Once you have your account information, please establish your deduction on TSA’s website:
https://www.tsacg.com/individual/plan-sponsor/california/san-mateo-county-office-of-education/
Please print or save a confirmation for your record once the deduction amount is made.
Note: plan for the payroll change to take place the following month
- After your account is created and your payroll deduction is complete, you may make adjustments to your 403b and/or 457 accounts with the vendor websites directly.
