Services

The Curriculum and Instruction Services Team at the San Mateo County Office of Education offers a comprehensive range of services to support educators, schools, and districts. Here are some of the specific services provided:

  • Curricular and Instructional Technical assistance: Guidance and support in several content areas, including English Language Arts, Multilingual/English Learner Services, History and Social Sciences, Inclusive Education, Mathematics, Science, and Visual and Performing Arts.
  • Professional Development: Opportunities for deep, sustained professional development across different content areas for teachers and administrators.
  • District Administrator Meeting Opportunities: Coordinate meetings for district administrators to discuss and plan educational strategies in a variety of areas.
  • Curriculum Framework & Standards Implementation and Adoption Facilitation: Providing support for the development of district adoption committees and facilitation of the adoption process of K-12 curriculum instructional materials.

Instructional Leadership Network

The Instructional Leadership Network gathers all school district leaders to network and learn about timely resources and information related to curriculum and instruction. Meetings highlight lessons learned in the field and district continuous improvement projects with the lens of building equity and achievement for all students across San Mateo County.

Curriculum Framework Development and Adoption

Curriculum frameworks guide educators in implementing content standards adopted by the State Board of Education (SBE). Frameworks are developed by the Instructional Quality Commission, which also reviews and recommends textbooks and other instructional materials to be adopted by the SBE.
