San Mateo County Schools See Continued Progress on the 2025 California School Dashboard

The California Department of Education has released the 2025 California School Dashboard, which provides educators and families with information on school and district progress towards improving student learning and outcomes. An initial review of the dashboard shows that districts across San Mateo County have continued to progress in areas including English and Math, while seeing fewer identified as needing improvement in chronic absenteeism.

The dashboard is used for a variety of state accountability purposes. One of those is to determine a local educational agency’s eligibility for additional support from the San Mateo County Office of Education in the form of Differentiated Assistance. In the latest dashboard, nine districts and one charter school were identified as eligible for Differentiated Assistance, meaning that they will work in partnership with the County Office to address gaps in student performance. The County Office has seen changes in eligibility, including three districts that are exiting Differentiated Assistance and four that are transitioning to their second year.

The County Office's Systems for District Improvement department offers support and guidance to local education agencies by building strong relationships and promoting equitable access to resources for students and families in San Mateo County. A customizable service framework empowers educators to tailor support to their unique needs.

“We are proud of our districts, teachers, families, and students who continue to show progress,” said Marco Chavez, Deputy Superintendent, Educational Services Division at the San Mateo County Office of Education. “The County Office is committed to working in partnership with districts to drive continued progress in the year ahead.”

The County Office will continue to study the data to tailor its support for districts and provide accessible information for schools and communities. The County Office provides a variety of data through multiple dashboards on its website. Explore the California School Dashboard and other descriptive information to learn more.
