About K-12 Special Education Services

The San Mateo County Office of Education's (SMCOE) K-12 Special Education Services program serves students with special needs from kindergarten through twelfth grade and beyond. The program includes Special Day Classes (SDC) Center Site in San Bruno and Integrated Sites at 10 school sites.

Integrated Special Day Classes

The program offers 10 Integrated Special Day Classes throughout the county for students with autism, with multiple disabilities/orthopedic impairments, and experiencing emotional disturbances. The classes will follow the calendar for school sites where they are located Below is a list of sites according to their services.

Special Day Classes at Palos Verdes and El Portal

The K-12 Special Education Services' Palos Verdes and El Portal schools, located at 1290 Commodore Dr. West, San Bruno, CA 94066, serves a wide range of students, including students with autism, with multiple disabilities/orthopedic impairments, and experiencing emotional disturbances.

Adult Resource and Transition Program

The San Mateo County Office of Education's Adult Resource and Transition (SMART) program supports K-12 students aged 18-22 in transitioning to independent adult life.

The SMART program delivers a meaningful curriculum that builds independent daily living, vocational, social, and leisure skills and provides critical resources to empower the families of students in the program. It is part of the continuum of services offered by SMCOE, with individual education program (IEP) goals and objectives that create an individualized program and the most meaningful instruction for participants.
