About K-22 Special Education Services
The San Mateo County Office of Education's (SMCOE) K-22 Special Education program serves students with special needs from kindergarten through age 22 years. The program includes six Special Day Classes (SDC's) at SMCOE's center site in San Bruno and six SDC's located on integrated school sites throughout the county. Students are referred to SMCOE's Special Education program by their local school district through the IEP process.
Integrated Special Day Classes
The program offers six Special Day Classes on integrated school sites throughout the county. These classes serve students identified with autism, multiple disabilities/orthopedic impairments, and/or emotional disturbance. These classes follow the calendar for school sites where they are located. A link to each school site may be found below.
Special Day Classes at Palos Verdes and El Portal
The K-22 Special Education program operates six Special Day Classes (SDC's) at our Palos Verdes and El Portal schools, located at 1290 Commodore Dr. West, San Bruno, CA 94066. Students enrolled in these classes are identified as having educational disabilities including autism, multiple disabilities, and/or orthopedic impairments.
