District and School Improvement

How SMCOE Plays a Role

The San Mateo County Office of Education plays a critical role in supporting the continuous growth of San Mateo County districts and their schools by monitoring State and Federal programs, reviewing and approving Local Control and Accountability Plans (LCAPs), providing differentiated assistance to eligible districts, training educators in Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) and other assessment and accountability services.

SMCOE also supports school communities in complying with the Williams Settlement and participating in the Tinsley Volunteer Transfer Program.

Professional Learning Network (PLN)

Professional Learning Network (PLN) is a two-year network where select districts work alongside the San Mateo County Office of Education in using continuous improvement to work through and address each district's problems of practice.
