Foster Youth Services
The Foster Youth Services (FYS) program is designed to serve the unique educational needs of children in foster care. Through our partnership with San Mateo Human Services agency, we seek to serve all youth in out-of-home placement including children living in foster homes, group homes, youth shelters, and residential treatment facilities.
School Attendance
The San Mateo County Office of Education provides schools and districts with ready-made school attendance materials for outreach to families and includes tools that schools can use to assess their own attendance practices and guide their improvement.
Youth Facing Homelessness
SMCOE ensures that children and youths experiencing homelessness by supporting homeless liaisons and other district staff in providing services to students at risk.
