The San Mateo County Office of Education offers employment opportunities for certificated personnel in a variety of areas, including teaching, support services, and administration. All certificated vacancies are posted on the EDJOIN website.
Applications and supporting materials will be reviewed, evaluated, and considered for an interview. Incomplete or late applications will not receive consideration.
Candidates who receive an offer of employment will be hired contingent upon the satisfactory completion of the following:
- Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background checks
- Results of a tuberculosis skin test
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Employment physical, when applicable
Classified Jobs
The San Mateo County Office of Education offers classified (non-teaching) employment opportunities in a variety of occupational fields including administrative support, accounting, technology, educational support services, and facilities services. Under our Merit System hiring procedures, job candidates are screened on the basis of their qualifications to fill positions, and employees are selected through competitive written, oral, and/or performance examinations. Outlined in this section are the hiring procedures for classified employees who support SMCOE's educational mission.
Applicants for classified positions should complete an online application on the CalOpps website or fill out a classified job application. Candidates who pass all portions of the examination process will have their names placed on an eligibility list in rank order according to their test scores. The supervisor of the vacant position will conduct final interviews from among the top-ranking candidates to make his/her selection.
